Double Celebration – Come and Join in!

THURSDAY 28th Sept. 2017 11.00am at the Parcel Bar Café

The Friends of Hebden Bridge Station (FoHBS) are holding a 10th Anniversary celebration in the Parcel Bar Café on the station.

By happy coincidence this date marks the publication by Penguin / Random House of Sir Simon Jenkins’ book ‘Britain’s 100 Best Railway Stations’. Hebden Bridge ‘particularly charmed’ the author. Working with our local independent bookseller the Book Case we hope that copies of the publication will be available at the café.

FoHBS was formed in 2007. Our group takes an interest in the heritage of Hebden Bridge and safeguarding and enhancing the environment of the station and surrounding grounds. We promote the use of rail and other forms of sustainable transport, campaign for facilities for rail passengers and station users, and maintain the grounds. We also work with various community groups, the rail franchise holder (currently Northernrailway), local businesses, and have contact with other station groups. Why not come along to the station and join in this double celebration, and consider joining the Friends? We also welcome comments and suggestions for fundraising ideas (we are a small voluntary organisation) and activities.

2017 Working Parties at Hebden Bridge Station

Working parties have been advertised as every other Saturday lasting from 2.00-3.00pm, but we have decided to trial a new time, 10:30 am to 11:30 am to see if we can attract more volunteers. Please bring your own trowel, kneelers, and secateurs if you have them. - all volunteers welcome!

30 September 14 October

We have created a new bed opposite the nursery and would welcome plants/seedlings/seeds. Ideally we would like edible things like herbs, vegetables and fruit, but flowers/small shrubs are also welcome.

Next FoHBS meeting: Monday, 30th October at 6 pm in the station manager's office on Platform 1.
